Healthy Body, Healthy Mind

You’ve heard it, sure. But have you put it into practice? Working out releases endorphins in the brain. Endorphins are a chemical that creates a positive feeling in the body. Happiness is a chemical reaction created by many different routes. When you laugh, you release endorphins also. When this chemical is produced, your perception of pain is also reduced. Dopamine is also released during exercise, which is a neurotransmitter that is necessary when feeling pleasure and happiness. Since you know about both of these chemicals now, why aren’t you working out every day?

“I don’t have the time”, “It’s too hard”, “It hurts”, “I don’t like sweating”, “I can’t do that”, “I’m in good enough shape to work out”, “I don’t want to spend the money on a gym”, etc… We can make up so many excuses to not work out. We can find so many reasons not to do it. But there is only one reason why you should. Do it for you.

The very best thing you can do in your whole entire life is invest in yourself. Does it take time? Yes. Does it cost money? Sure, but it doesn’t have to be much. Is it hard? Of course! Can you do it? YES! Is it worth it? OMG YES! Say YES and take control of your life! Do you want to live in mediocrity? Do you want to always be wanting more, instead of being grateful for what you have? Are you complaining about your energy levels or how your body looks? Only you have the power to change it.

One of the best things I have ever done in my life is invest in myself. I invested in my health by taking care of myself nutritionally, physically, spiritually, and mentally. What can you do to get started, even if it’s just a small step?

  1. Nutrition – Delicious, Nutritious, and Satisfying!
  2. Exercise – Sweat, get your heart rate up, and feel satisfied that you did your best!
  3. Meditate – Focus on your breathing, or start with a guided meditation to help your mental clarity.
  4. Read self improvement books. These have tons of inspiring ways you can get motivated!
  5. Start a thought journal – write down your goals. Start small and do your small goals every day!
  6. Get outside every day and take a short walk. Get moving!
  7. Pamper yourself with something that comforts you.

Stop with the excuses! Stop making up reasons why you can’t, and find that one reason why you should start! “I want to feel better”, “I want to lose weight”, “I want to have more energy”, “I want to eat healthier”. DO IT! There are tons of support groups, clubs, and fitness programs that you can get the support you need to keep going. It’s hard, yes, but you can do it, and it’s so worth it! I guarantee you’ll feel better!
